Auspost parcels must :
- be no heavier than 22kg for Domestic and 20kg for International
- have a maximum linear dimension no larger than 105cm
- have a maximum diameter no larger than 140cm
- have a cubic volume (measured as length x width x height) no greater than 0.25 cubic metres
If the parcel is irregular in shape, its length is the distance between the two furthest-apart points on the surface of the item. This must be no larger than 105cm
Dangerous Goods are NOT permitted and lithium batteries as below
Lithium batteries fall into two categories, lithium-ion batteries and lithium-metal batteries.
- Lithium-ion batteries are re-chargeable and high energy density, but do not contain metallic lithium.
- Lithium-metal batteries are usually non-rechargeable but feature a higher energy density than regular batteries.
Common Types of Lithium Batteries
·
Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer cells/batteries can be mailed if they meet the following |
Lithium Metal or Lithium Alloy cells/batteries can be mailed if they meet the following |
|
Cells: Maximum watt hour of 20 Wh | The Watt-hour rating (Wh) will usually be marked on the outside of the battery cases | Cells: Maximum lithium content of one gram |
Batteries: Maximum Watt hour rating of 100Wh | Batteries: Maximum aggregate lithium quantity of two grams | |
Watt hour 19Wh) = Amp hour (Ah) x Voltage (V) |

How to pack?
- Where possible use the original retail packaging
- Equipment must be packed so that it can’t accidentally turn on
- Batteries must be protected against short circuiting
- Batteries not installed in equipment must be securely packed in inner packaging that completely encloses the battery e.g. Bubble wrap
- External packaging must provide a strong level of protection against breakage or impact as it goes through the mail network 9eg Cardboard box and greater than 20mm thick)
Please remember
- do not try to cheat on the statement, or you might lose your shipping cost or even the whole package, almost all packages are scanned and the companies very likely find the batteries
- there are no limitations for NiMh, NiCd batteries, only Li-Po, Li-Ion
- rules might change anytime without prior notification
- we will always do our best to find a proper solution for you, till now we were able always to ship the batteries
